Solid Waste/ Recycling

Duties: Manage the Solid Waste, Recycling, and Clean Sweep programs. Waste hauler licensing, investigate illegal burning and dumping complaints, review and determine approving one-time burial requests, special waste item (appliances, electronics, fluorescent bulbs, and tires) disposal. Provide assistance, information and educational materials on variety of solid waste, recycling, and clean sweep topics.

Mission Statement: It is the mission of the Pierce County Solid Waste Management Board to protect the environment, promote waste reduction and develop a sustainable environment for all of Pierce County.

Pierce County, on behalf of the Solid Waste Department/MRF, will accept sealed proposals for a 2022 skid-loader. Proposals must be received by mail or hand delivered to the Solid Waste Department Office, 707 North Maple Street, P.O. Box 118, Ellsworth WI 54011, by Friday, December 17, 2021, no later than the hour of 12:00 p.m., in a sealed envelope and clearly marked “Pierce County MRF Skid Loader Proposal.”  The Pierce County Solid Waste Management Board will review and award the proposal for the 2022 Skid Loader no later than, Wednesday, January 19, 2021 2022, at 4:30 p.m. This will be a Remote Only meeting All Solid Waste Management Board members, public, media, & staff may attend the meeting virtually with the link or phone number that will be provided on the SWMB January Agenda that will be posted on the Pierce County Website. 
The skid-loader specifications/proposal form is available at the Pierce County Solid Waste Department/MRF Office at 707 North Maple Street, Ellsworth WI.  Phone (715) 273-3092.  Pierce County reserves the right to reject any and all proposals regardless of conformity with the specifications.  Furthermore, Pierce County may declare as valid any proposal submitted, despite its failure to adhere to the terms and conditions stated in the specifications/proposal form.  Pierce County further reserves the right using reasonable business judgment to negotiate with a vendor whether or not its submittal is deemed to be the lowest responsible proposal.  Pierce County is bound only upon the signing and execution of a formal written contract.  By the authority of the Pierce County Solid Waste Management Board, Pierce County Courthouse, Ellsworth, WI.
