Two-vehicle Crash State Rd 35 & 1005th St Hager City

On Saturday, December 5th, 2020 at about 2:33 a.m. the Pierce County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a two-vehicle crash on State Road 35 and 1005th Street Hager City, WI in Diamond Bluff Township.

It was determined that a 2020 Mazda CX-5 was traveling northbound on State Road 35 near 1005th Street, it was operated by Mohamed Shambolia, 42 years old from Minneapolis, MN. Mr. Shambolia had a passenger 36-year-old Affan Irfan from Lakeville, MN.

A 2004 Saturn Vue was traveling southbound on State Road 35 being operate by Richard Wadena 52 years old from Newport, MN. Mr. Wadena drove left of center and into the northbound lane and struck the Shambolia vehicle. Mr. Shambolia was transported from the scene by Red Wing Ambulance Service to Mayo Hospital in Red Wing, MN with undetermined injuries. Mr. Irfan was uninjured in the crash. Mr. Wadena was uninjured in the crash and subsequently arrested on suspicion of operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated.

The Pierce County Sheriff’s Office was assisted on scene by Ellsworth Fire Department, Red Wing Fire Department and Ambulance Service. The crash remains under investigation by the Pierce County Sheriff’s Office.
