Subject struck and injured by falling haybales on Cty Tk S near 530th Ave, in Rock Elm Township.

On Saturday January 14th, 2023 at approximately 8:26 a.m., Pierce County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a subject that was struck and injured by falling haybales on Cty Tk S near 530th Ave, in Rock Elm Township.
It was determined a 1998 Peterbuilt tractor trailer operated by Raymond Leffingwell, 66 years old from Elmwood WI, was delivering haybales at a farm when a load of haybales shifted and fell off a 2009 Load King flatbed trailer. The haybales struck John Robey, 60 years old from Elmwood, WI.
Mr. Robey was transported from the scene to Western Wisconsin Health in Baldwin, WI by the Elmwood Ambulance Service where he was pronounced deceased. Mr. Leffingwell was not injured in the accident.
Pierce County Sheriff’s Office was assisted on scene by Elmwood Ambulance Service, Elmwood Fire Department and Baldwin Ambulance Service.
