Deputy Medical Examiner – This is a position is part time on call.  Under the supervision of the Medical Examiner this official is responsible for professionally and confidentially conducting investigations of all cases of persons who die within Pierce County suddenly, when in apparent good health; when unattended by a physician; from criminal violence; by casualty or by suicide; in a correctional facility; or in any suspicious or unusual manner in order to determine the cause and manner of death. The Deputy Medical Examiner also investigates when an application is made to cremate the body of a deceased person as may be amended or required by law. Minimum Qualifications: Medical training sufficient to perform medicolegal death investigations and to determine the cause and manor of death. Examples of acceptable medical training include, but are not limited to: MDs, Dos, DVMs, PAs, RNs, and LPNs. Background in anatomy, physiology and pharmacology as they relate to the human body are essential. Functional knowledge of medical terminology. Functional ability to utilize digital camera(s). Computer skills including data entry, WORD, EXCEL and ability to learn and use Forensic software programs and other related software programs related to the conduct of the Medical Examiner’s Office. Ability to maintain confidentiality of all Medical Examiner records and information. Valid Wisconsin driver’s license. Availability 24 hours/day, 7 days/week in accordance with established on-call schedule. Ability to pass a criminal background check is required. 

This position is a PT on call position.
