NOTICE OF TOWN CAUCUS TOWN OF MARTELL

Notice is hereby given to the electors of the Town of Martell, Pierce County, that a Town Caucus will be held Tuesday, January 10, 2023, at the Town Hall, W5581 800th Avenue, Spring Valley, WI 54767.  (The Caucus will be held immediately at the conclusion of the regular Town Board meeting which begins at 7 p.m.) The purpose of the Caucus is to nominate candidates to appear on the spring election ballot for the positions of town chair, supervisors, clerk and treasurer.

ASSESSMENT ROLL IS OPEN FOR EXAMINATION AND OPEN BOOK
STATE OF WISCONSIN
Town of Martell, Pierce County.

Pursuant to Wis. Stat. § 70.45, the assessment roll for the Year 2022 assessment will be open for examination by appointment.  Please call the town clerk at 715-977-1202 to schedule a time. 

Additionally, the assessor shall be available on the 8th day of June, 2022 at the Martell Town Hall from noon to 2 p.m.

Instructional material will be provided at the open book to persons who wish to object to valuations under Wis. Stat. § 70.47.

Martell Township is located in the northern part of Pierce County, Wisconsin. It is bordered by the Town of Gilman, Town of River Falls, Town of Ellsworth and St. Croix County. Martell Township is a rural Township comprised of a mix of farmland, woodland and creeks. Its primary industry is agriculture, which includes dairy, beef, and crop farms and an apple orchard.

It is a picturesque area of Northwest Wisconsin, with lots of recreational opportunities available nearby, from hiking and camping to hunting and fishing.

TOWN MEETINGS

Meeting notices and events held in the township are published in The Journal, this website and in the display case at the town hall.

Residents are encouraged to attend all Martell Townships meetings. Regular monthly meetings of the Town Board are normally held at the Town Hall on the 2nd Tuesday of the month at 7:00 p.m. If there's something you wish to discuss at the meeting, please contact the Town Clerk so it can be properly placed on the agenda.

The annual town meeting will be held the third Tuesday in April. At this meeting the resident of the town:

  • Review the financial report
  • Set the date for the next annual meeting
  • Decide on dust control methods
  • Designate the official depository
  • Express concerns within the township
The annual budget hearing/special town meeting is held in November. At this meeting the resident of the township:

  • Approve the proposed budget for the next year
  • Adopt the town tax levy
  • Authorize highway expenditures
  • Authorize the hiring of town board members as employees
  • In an election year, may set the town board members salary for the next term
