Special Town Board Meeting

The Clifton Town Board will hold a special Town Board Meeting at 6:00pm on Thursday, May 20th at the Clifton Town Hall, located on the corner of FF and QQ.  The agenda: call to order, bids for widening and ditch shaping of 1830 feet of 1090th St, bids for pavement maintenance work in the Town of Clifton, adjournment.

Sealed bids will be received until 6:00 p.m. on May 20th, 2021 at the Clifton Town Hall, located at the corner of County Road QQ and County Road FF, River Falls, Wisconsin. Bids may be mailed to Chairman, Leroy Peterson, 10604 County Road FF, River Falls, WI 54022-4848. No late bids will be accepted. No facsimile or e-mailed bids will be accepted. Bids will be opened at the town meeting on May 20th, 2021 at 6:00 p.m. The bid may be awarded at that meeting.

Scope of Work: Contractor shall furnish all materials, labor, and equipment necessary to complete the Work described in the bid form and specifications. The limits of each road segment are marked on the roads. Contractor shall bid each road segment as a lump sum. Bids received based on unit prices other than lump sum as indicated on the bid form will be rejected. The bid form and specifications are available by contacting the Chairman, LeRoy Peterson, or by e-mailing the Clerk at Project completion date shall be August 6th, 2021.

Proof of insurance and a 100% performance bond are required before any work begins.

The Town Board of the Town of Clifton has the right to accept or reject any or all bids with respect to irregularities or technicalities, or to reject all bids outright and further, to award the contract to the contractor, who, in the judgement of the Town Board, will best serve the interests of the Town of Clifton.


The Town of Clifton Town Board will also be accepting bids on the widening and ditch shaping for 1830ft of 1090th Street at this same meeting.  Questions on bids can be directed to Chairperson LeRoy Peterson, (715) 760-1256.

The Clifton Town Board will hold its monthly meet on May 4, 2021 at 7:00pm at the Clifton Town Hall, located on the corner of FF and QQ.  The agenda:  approval of minutes, treasurer’s report, public comment, building permits, discussion/take action on:  CSM for Ron Bennett/Sherry Keller; Tyler Turner CUP W11706 Co Rd FF; discuss repairs to Clifton Town Hall; approval of checks, adjournment.

Prescott and River Falls

The Town of Clifton is located in western Wisconsin and is bordered on its western edge by the St. Croix River. The Town is part of Pierce County and has an area of approximately 35 square miles. The County is mainly rural and is known for its natural beauty, dairy and crop farms. There are 17 towns, 6 villages and 2 cities in Pierce County. The Town of Clifton is the western-most town in the County, bordering the town of Troy to the north, the Town of River Falls to the east, and the town of Oak Grove and the City of Prescott to the south. State Highway 29/35 provides the principal link through the town of Clifton connecting the cities of Prescott and River Falls. U.S. Highway 10 near the southern border of the Town is the principal east-west route providing a direct route east from the City of Prescott to the Pierce County Seat in Ellsworth. County Highway F is the major north-south transportation route through the Town.

Residents are encouraged to attend all Clifton Townships meetings. Regular monthly meetings of the Town Board are normally held at the Town Hall on the 1st Tuesday of the month at 7:00 p.m. If there's something you wish to discuss at the meeting, please contact the Town Clerk so it can be properly placed on the agenda.

The annual town meeting will be held the third Tuesday in April. At this meeting the resident of the town:

  • Review the financial report
  • Set the date for the next annual meeting
  • Decide on dust control methods
  • Designate the official depository
  • Express concerns within the township

The annual budget hearing/special town meeting is held in November. At this meeting the resident of the township:

  • Approve the proposed budget for the next year
  • Adopt the town tax levy
  • Authorize highway expenditures
  • Authorize the hiring of town board members as employees
  • In an election year, may set the town board members salary for the next term
