Car versus deer accident with injury on STH 72 near 290th Street Elmwood, WI in El Paso township.

On Thursday, June 10th, 2021 at about 7:38 am the Pierce County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a car versus deer accident with injury on STH 72 near 290th Street Elmwood, WI in El Paso township. 

It was determined that a 2007 Mercury Monterey was traveling eastbound on STH. 72 being operated by Linda Bowen, 26 years old from Ellsworth, WI when a deer ran into the roadway and struck the driver’s side door of the Bowen vehicle.  The deer partially went through the driver’s side window, striking Mrs.Bowen in the head and neck area.  Mrs. Bowen was able to safely operate the vehicle onto the shoulder of the roadway.

Mrs. Bowen’s had 5 minor children in the vehicle, they were in safety seats and uninjured in the crash.  Mrs. Bowen was transported from the scene by Elmwood Area Ambulance Service to Mayo Hospital in Menomonie with undetermined injuries.
