In the Event you have an Empty Bottle or Can
During these warmer months many people find themselves attending outdoor gatherings. At these community events people may enjoy a bottle of water, a can of soda or an adult beverage. All of which should never be thrown in the trash when empty, but recycled instead! This is exactly why Pierce County Solid Waste has been working collectively with local event coordinators to ensure that recycling is taking place at their events.
The process is quite simple; with a very straight-forward lease agreement, a small refundable security deposit and the bins onsite, everything can be taken care of at the Pierce County Solid Waste office in Ellsworth. Event coordinators “are able to pick-up the bins at their convenience or arrange to have them delivered to their community by a Recycling truck. We want this to be an easy process for everyone; our goal is just to increase recycling throughout the County” states Steve Melstrom, Pierce County Solid Waste Administrator. The recycling bins have a blue metal frame, a solid blue lid and a clear bag to demonstrate that they are solely for recycling purposes.
Any County resident can reserve the bins for their special event; limited quantities are available, calling in advance to reserve an allotted number of bins will be beneficial. Arrangements can be made through Anna McCabe, the Pierce County Recycling Assistant at amccabe@co.dunn.wi.us or 715-556-7100.
