Private Road Standards

 

The Town Board of the Town of Ellsworth, Pierce County, Wisconsin, do ordain as follows:

 

Definition:

A private road is a vehicle access way not owned or maintained by a unit of government serving lots or building sites, the use of which is restricted to the owners of the lots or building sites served.

 

Construction:

Construction of private roads with more than two lots or building sites shall be in accordance with the following standards set forth by the town board of the Town of Ellsworth:

 

1.   2 lane road

2.   6 inches of crushed rock surface

3.   1 foot compacted approved sub-base

4.   Minimum of 22 feet travel lanes with minimum 2 foot shoulders

5.   Maximum 10% slope

6.   Proper drainage

7.   All weather road capable of supporting a legal 80,000 lb load

8.   Minimum of 250 foot curve radius

9.   Access layout and road signage shall promote public safety

10.  Town may consider taking over road if standards are met and road has been surfaced with 2 inches of compacted asphalt 22 feet wide

 

Adopted by the town board of the Town of Ellsworth this 11th day of April, 2006 and shall take effect immediately.
