Pierce County Sheriff Department, in coordination with the Pierce County Solid Waste and Highway departments, announce a permanent drop-off location for residents to dispose of their unwanted or expired prescriptions, over the counter and pet medications.
Sheriff Nancy Hove explained this move was necessary because residents have demonstrated they want to properly dispose of their medications.
Residents can deliver their unwanted or expired medications to a special red painted station located in the lobby by the dispatch/jail window.
All medications can be delivered:
- 24 hours a day, seven days a week
- Keep medications in their original containers with personal information blacked out
- No sharps or personal hygiene products will be accepted
Residents are still invited to dispose of their medications during the solid waste departments Fall Clean Sweep Event on Saturday, September 18, 2010.
