CORRECTIONS OFFICER—Pierce County Sheriff’s Office is seeking candidates to add to an eligibility list for our Corrections Division. A wide variety of tasks are connected with operation of the jail. Work involves operation of the jail, safety and security of the prisoners, receipt and accurate transmission of jail radio, telephone, and various clerical functions in the jail. This position requires a HS Diploma or equivalent, Valid Driver’s License, WI Jailer Certification is preferred but not required at hire. You will have to successfully complete this certification within one year of hire.  FT, $20.82/hr, plus excellent fringe benefits.  You may drop applications off in the Human Resources office located at W414 W. Paralegal: The Pierce County Corporation Counsel office is seeking an energetic individual that is highly detail oriented and organized to perform skilled paralegal support and general office management functions for the Pierce County Corporation Counsel office. This position performs paralegal duties for civil matters, appeals, and labor relations involving the County such as conducting legal research and analysis to support legal arguments; drafting legal memoranda, briefs, and documents. Reviews and prepares legal documents and orders for child support and paternity cases, guardianships, protective placements/annual reviews, commitments and other civil proceedings. Minimum Qualifications:  Bachelor’s degree from approved college or university with a major in paralegal studies, criminal justice, pre-law, political science, business administration, public administration or related field and one year experience as a paralegal; OR Associate degree as paralegal and three years related work experience; proficient in computer software systems such as word-processing and spreadsheet programs. WI notary public. Must have Knowledge of county, state and federal statutory requirements regarding legal documentation and recordkeeping. Must have the ability to conduct legal research and analysis to support legal arguments.  Must also have the ability to prepare a variety of legal documents, forms, materials and correspondence. FT 40 hrs wk; Salary range $22.25 – $28.61 plus benefits. Public Health Specialist – Planning & Preparedness – The Pierce County Public Health department is seeking someone who is passionate about Public Health and able to support emergency preparedness, strategic planning, quality improvement, accreditation initiatives. The Public Health Specialist – Planning and Preparedness position will support public health emergency preparedness and response activities throughout Pierce County. The position will be responsible for providing leadership in developing public health emergency preparedness plans and templates and training and exercising related to emergencies and meeting preparedness grant requirements. This position will also work closely with the Health Officer on strategic plan implementation, quality improvement, performance management and accreditation. Special projects related to the department’s strategic priorities may also be assigned. Minimum Qualifications: A bachelor's degree in public health, health education, health sciences, nursing or closely related field. Project and/or grant management experience. Preferred Qualifications: 1-2 years of experience in public health or related field. Familiarity with emergency preparedness and/or quality improvement techniques. Master’s degree. HIGHWAY DEPARTMENT SUMMER HELP: Pierce County Highway Dept. is seeking to hire summer students. Requirements: Must be attending a 4-yr college and preferably enrolled in a civil engineering program.  Student will be performing labor and shop duties along with engineering and project management duties, along with shop and grounds work.  $14.31 per hr.
