POLICY

 

Pierce County Department of Human Services shall conduct investigations and initial assessments of reported child abuse and/or neglect matters, which meet the criteria to be screened in for investigation, where the person alleged to have committed the abuse/neglect is a primary caregiver or a secondary caregiver as defined by Wisconsin law.

Pierce County Department of Human Services may, but is not required to, conduct investigations and initial assessments of reported child abuse and/or neglect matters, where the person alleged to have committed the abuse/neglect is not a caregiver of the alleged child victim as defined by Wisconsin law.

In all situations, investigations and initial assessments shall be conducted in accordance with applicable State and Federal laws, administrative rules and State Standards.
