Family Caregiver Support Program:  The Family Caregiver Support Program provides information and assistance to family members, neighbors and friends who care for adults 60 years old and older and persons with Alzheimer's disease or related disorder (regardless of age); grandparents and relative caregivers of children no older than 18 and relative caregivers of an adult child 18-59 with a disability.  The program consists of the following components:

  • Information: Such as group presentations and public education to help caregivers learn of existing services and resources in their community.
  • Assistance: To assess particular caregiving needs, to help identify options and provide referrals to local community-based services.
  • Training and Support: To assist caregivers in making decisions and solving problems related to their caregiving role and providing classes and support groups.
  • Respite Care Services: Funding to provide short-term and temporary breaks for the caregiver that can be provided in the home, adult day care or a facility.
  • Supplemental Services: On a limited basis to complement the care provided by the caregiver such as home modifications, adaptive equipment or needed medical supplies.

Home and office visits are available to assist consumers and families to examine and arrange community options, short-term intervention, advocacy and prevention services.
Alzheimer’s Family and Caregiver Program:   Funding for respite care, education, or equipment may be available through the Alzheimer's Family Caregiver Support Program if individuals meet the financial eligibility requirements.

Project Lifesaver:  Citizens enrolled in Project Lifesaver wear a small personal transmitter around the wrist or ankle that emits an individualized tracking signal. If an enrolled client goes missing, the caregiver notifies their local Project Lifesaver agency, and a trained emergency team responds to the wanderer’s area. Most who wander are found within a few miles from home, and search times have been reduced from hours and days to minutes. Recovery times for PLI clients average 30 minutes — 95% less time than standard operations.
